Secondary Science Teacher (SEN)

Salary: Per local scale: Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale- £37,680 - £53,857 / £56,847 - £60,430 per annum
Contract: Permanent

School Vision:

As part of the State of Guernsey Les Voies is the Guernsey school for Children and Young People aged 9-16 that experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH). The school takes responsibility to support all learners across the Bailiwick that have SEMH difficulties through the Les Voies Inclusion Service. The staff team are committed to breaking down SEMH barriers to learning and offering any support they can to colleagues from all aspects of education in matters relating to SEMH.

Located in a purpose built establishment, the school offers well resources classrooms as well as excellent sporting facilities. Curriculum is rich and staff are highly skilled.

Role:

You will be teaching Science to students aiming to ensure that as a school the needs of students with SEBD are met and they have opportunities commensurate with their peers. Applicants should have an understanding of strategies and systems which promote successful learning and positive behaviour. They should have a strong empathy with children and young people and a desire to meet their needs.

Requirements:

  • A suitable teaching qualification
  • Substantial experience of working with children who have presented with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (which may include that undertaken in a voluntary capacity) and a willingness to work with students of all ages and abilities
  • Experience and evidence of delivering excellent outcomes for all learners.
  • . An ability to demonstrate recent effective strategies to achieve high quality teaching and learning.
  • The ability to make effective use of current modern technologies to enhance teaching and learning
