Primary SEN Class Teacher

Location: Guernsey
Region: Europe
Required: September 2024
Curriculum: UK
Salary: Per local scale (M1-M4)/ UPS plus additional SEN school allowance
Contract: Permanent

School Vision:

As part of the State of Guernsey, Le Rondin School is a trauma sensitive school providing a safe and supportive community where students are made to feel safe. Curriculum is tuned to the needs of individual pupils with a wide range and varying degrees of special educational needs. The school places the rights of the child at the heart of it's ethos. The school itself share facilities with another Primary school and is maintained by Education Services and the Centre accommodates colleagues from Education, Health and Social Care Departments who work closely, in multi-agency teams, to provide the best possible support for pupils and children in the wider community.

Admissions to the School are made through liaison between parents, Education Services staff and the School, in accordance with procedures set out in the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice (Guernsey).

Role:

You will fulfil duties as class teacher - working with primary students who have a wide range of learning needs.

Requirements:

  • A suitable teaching qualification with significant recent experience of working with Primary aged students with a wide range of additional needs
  • You'll be an excellent classroom teacher with practical experience of recent teaching and learning pedagogy and substantial experience in a Primary setting - preferably SEN
  • An ability to demonstrate effective strategies to achieve high quality teaching and learning
  • Ability to make effective use of digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Team Teach qualification is desirable
  • Experience of/qualification in Sign-Along (used in school) or Makaton is desirable though not essential

  • Excellent salary as per stage of Guernsey's teacher pay scale - from £35,000 - £57,000 (Upper pay scale)
