The School

Teachanywhere is delighted to be working in partnership once again with YCIS schools. Applications made via Teachanywhere have the added benefit of being prioritised by Yew Chung leadership staff who recognise our important first stage application reviews.

Founded in 1932, YCIS is an unrivalled network of international kindergartens, schools and college that spans across 20 locations in Hong Kong, mainland China and Silicon Valley in the US. YCIS is a fully accredited network of schools, recognised by CIS (Council of International Schools).

YCIS Beijing opened its doors in 1995. The attractive campus is located downtown adjacent to the scenic Honglingjin park and is a hub to all the iconic sights of Beijing. At YCIS, academic excellence is developed in tandem with the core values, sense of community, and opportunities that will stay with students far beyond their time at school. The student body in Beijing comprises more than 800 students from over 40 nationalities.

The school's holistic approach to raising globally aware citizens is implemented by a unique Bilingual Learning Community co-teaching model throughout Early Childhood and Primary year levels where they then transition into IGCSE and IB in the Secondary school, which is an accredited Cambridge International Examinations Centre and is the only school in China to have received the Cambridge Award for Excellence in Education.

YCIS Beijing students are known for their world-beating IBDP results. The class of 2022 received a 100% pass rate marking the 16th consecutive year, with 59% of graduates receiving a bilingual diploma. These results pave the way for graduates who secure places at prestigious universities worldwide including but not limited to the University of British Columbia in Canada, the University of Edinburgh in the UK, and Parsons School of Design in the USA.

Students are all recognised as individuals and are given the opportunity to develop their interests and find their passions beyond the classroom. The school offers a varied spectrum of sporting disciplines allowing students to hone their leadership and collaboration skills. The school participates in sporting events organised by ISAC (International Schools Athletic Conference) and ACAMIS (Association of China and Mongolia International Schools). Diverse co-curricular activities cover all interests and fields from art to science, from Chinese Debate Club to Mathematical Challenges. The school also offers an in-house individual instrumental programme, a school choir and orchestra as well as an annual musical production.
