The School

An opportunity to join a truly international school with a student population representing twenty-four nationalities and seventeen languages with students of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. This is the only international school in Northern Thailand providing an English curriculum education from Nursery right through to 18 years old. For many parents what makes this school really special is the family atmosphere that permeates all aspects of life at the school. Add to this the very small class sizes, experienced and dedicated teachers, virtually non-existent discipline problems, and the fact that students truly enjoy going to school and you have a solid basis for a great education.

Chiang Mai is the cultural capital of Northern Thailand and something of a tourist mecca. No visit to Thailand Is complete without a visit to this fascinating city and it's a great location base to enjoy this amazing country. Cheaper than Bangkok - your salary will go further than you think.

Requirements

The school is seeking to appoint a highly qualified and exceptional teacher of English Language and Literature. The successful candidate will teach a mix of KS4 (IGCSE) and KS3 classes, and a very small Y13 A Level English class.

The English department is very focused on the importance of reading, writing and developing English skills that facilitate success across the whole curriculum. Within the school teachers are encouraged to be innovative and also remain aware of contemporary educational research and how this can inform and improve curriculum delivery. Indeed, departmental members are encouraged to collaborate and participate in action research.

The school is seeking a teacher who can bring insightful ideas and innovative classroom practice to engage students. The successful candidate will be an experienced educator, ideally with the additional experience of working with English Language Learners to develop academic writing skills. In addition to this, the successful candidate will ideally have experience of teaching English within a UK framework at both IGCSE and A Level. The successful candidate must be confident and secure in their knowledge of English at KS3 and 4, and, ideally, KS5. At both IGCSE and A Level they follow the syllabuses of Edexcel.

The successful candidate will join a highly focused department that consistently achieves excellent results at both IGCSE and A Level. This is an opportunity to work alongside many dedicated, able and passionate Secondary teachers within a small, but highly successful, innovative, and not least - very friendly school.

To fit in with the existing team of teachers the successful candidate must be hard-working and dedicated, and ideally be keen to join the team in providing additional support to students identified as in need. The existing team members frequently provide support outside of regular class time and ideally you would be self motivated to provide a similar level of help and support, when needed.

The school promotes high standards in all areas, not just academics. As such, you will be expected to take a full and active role in the life of the school; not only within your classroom and your own subject area.
