The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Design Technology leader to join our esteemed team and inspire the next generation of creators. As Director of Design Technology, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our department, fostering a vibrant learning environment, and ensuring that our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Digital Technology department, setting the strategic direction and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and practical application of knowledge.
  • Foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Effectively manage and mentor a team of Digital Technology teachers, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to ensure a seamless integration of Digital Technology into the wider curriculum.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and developments in Digital Technology, ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant and engaging.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding, health and safety, and curriculum standards.


About You:

  • You are a qualified teacher with a degree-level certification in Design Technology or a related field.
  • You possess a strong understanding of the UK curriculum and have at least 2 years of experience teaching Design Technology post-qualification.
  • You have a proven track record of leading and managing a Digital Technology department in a secondary school setting.
  • You are passionate about inspiring creativity and fostering a love of learning in students.
  • You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • You are committed to professional development and continuously seek new ways to improve your teaching practice.
